Feasibility of Local Aquafeed Production

Feasibility Evaluation (Aquaculture)

Exploring domestic aquafeed production to support food security in Papua New Guinea

Delivered by EnviroStrat, with Johnny Wright as Project Manager and Technical Lead, this feasibility study examined the potential to replace imported aquafeeds with locally produced alternatives.

The study assessed the technical and economic viability of using domestic ingredients to produce feed for key fresh water species (tilapia, carp, and rainbow trout) highlighting opportunities to reduce import reliance, improve food security, and support the sustainable growth of aquaculture as a vital source of nutrition and income for rural communities
